This testimonial is taken from an email sent to Dr. Todd Borus eight months after the patient's MAKOplasty partial knee resurfacing procedure.

Hi Dr. Borus, These pictures show the raison d'etre for my wonderful new knees. I just got back on Sunday from backpacking for 6 days and 62 miles on the w. side of the Wonderland Trail on Mt. Rainier, with over 16,000′ of climbing (and more importantly, descending!). My knees worked GREAT! It was exactly where I wanted to be, high in the alpine meadows with massive, majestic Mt. Rainier alongside all the way.The morning after I returned I got up at 5 am and swam 1.1 miles across the Columbia River in the Labor Day Cross the Columbia swim in Hood River. Oh yes, and I just bought a stand up paddleboard after having started that this summer. I got a racing board just in case I decide to compete…

Thank you for EVERYTHING!

-Jude

Dr. Roberts,

Thanks for the great work on my knee last fall. Here I am, doing my best in upper White River Canyon on Mt. Hood, April 26, 2013.  The old knee didn't complain!

Thank you again.

On 10/10/2014 I awoke with bad left arm pain, it continued to get worse over the next week. I started visiting my GP and each time came away with a different or no diagnosis. I was issued weak pain killers each time. It got to the point where I felt the doctors thought I was just seeking drugs for recreation and making up the pain which made it even more depressing. My director at work, seeing the state I was in, told me her husband had great success at Rebound and I should just walk in and ask to be treated which I did. My very first Doctor was Dr. Jacobs, who was wonderful. He had a good idea what I had but didn't have the imaging yet, he administered a cortisol shot deep into the arm and for the first time in weeks I finally had some relief. My next appointment was Dr. Gambee who diagnosed me initially from just seeing my arm on top of my head! This evidently is a strong indication of a herniated disk pressing on the arm nerve leaving the neck, which was later confirmed by MRI. Then I was handed off to Dr. Le for surgery, he as the preceding two was excellent. He described the two methods he can do to fix it listing the pros and cons of each. I picked one and had the surgery about a week later. From the moment I awoke I knew it was fixed I had zero pain in my arm FINALLY after two months! These Doctors of Rebound literally gave me my life back, thank you so much god bless. Every single staff member was professional and courteous from the front desk to the Xray technician ALL of them were exceedingly polite and kind, I would not hesitate to recommend or use them again myself.

We just want to thank you again for the incredible care you gave CJ and let you know the knee held up! CJ's team won the 6A state basketball championship this year.  We are so grateful that he was able to contribute and be part of his team again.  It is an experience he will remember for the rest of his life.

A Matching Pair of Knees!

In June 2010, it was decision time. I had been waiting for 10 years for a new knee. My visit was for my final cortizone shot. Surgery could have been scheduled before the month was out, but I told my Dr. that I needed to go home and "chew on the idea for awhile." The thought of six to nine months of recoup time, and all that plastic in me for a new knee - just didn't seem like the best thing I had been waiting so long for.

Much to my surprise, the very next night after receiving that last shot, there was a segment on King 5 News, about Dr.Borus and knee replacement surgery. The surgery showed great promise of getting me back on my feet quickly, with about six weeks of physical therapy.

I researched the Makoplasty procedure and Dr.Borus. I called my insurance at least four times to be sure it was covered - and it was. The trip to Vancouver, WA takes about 3 1/2 hours from the little town I live in just north of Bremerton, WA. At my consultation, Dr. Borus assured me that I was going to go from "as bad as it gets- to as good as it gets." That is exactly what happened.

Ten days after my surgery, at my follow-up visit, I was off my pain meds and NO walker and NO cane. After the first year visit, I had done so well that I didn't need to come back for two years. By then it was September 2013, and I had just lost my husband in July 2013. That meant, I needed to wait until summer of 2014, after school let out, to have my daughter accompany me for the surgery and visits.

In August 2014, I had my left knee replaced with Dr.Borus. This time, I was off the pain meds, NO walker or cane in 8 days. Everyone is different, but I can assure you that the healing time of this procedure is nothing short of a miracle.

Dr. Borus and his team, as well as, the exceptional care you receive at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, is the best you can hope for, anywhere. I now have a matching pair of new knees. The entire experience has been well worth going the extra miles, not once-but twice. Hands down, it has been among the best decisions I have ever made, and that truly is "as good as it gets."

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Anthony Wei as my surgeon for a total replacement of my right shoulder joint last Dec. 3rd, 2014.

My experience in Vietnam left me with a souvenir from a sniper to my right shoulder which became arthritic with the years and painful. Now, almost three months after total replacement and the wonderful work of the Rebound Physiotherapy team, I am pain free and have regained over 90% of my mobility!

Thank you, Dr. Wei and the highly professional staff at Rebound Orthopedics!!

I would like to thank Dr. Musleh for my very successful back surgery in 2014. After going through severe pain in my lower back and the need to carry a cane to keep from falling caused from sudden loss of control of my left leg.

Today I am able to walk and stand with no limits, I am back to doing things that I have been unable to accomplish in several years.

I recently returned from a trip to Sofia Bulgaria, where I was able to walk around that city on rough skinny stone side walks with no pain or worry.

Many thanks again to Dr. Musleh and his staff for all they have done for me.
I will turn 76 in May and feel like I'm 46 again.

I didn't wear my knee out by being a couch potato; I wore it out by running, skiing, hiking, water skiing, golf, horse back riding and my greatest fear before coming into this surgery was that I might not be able to do these things again. I heard about Dr. Roberts at lunch while skiing with friends at Mt Hood Meadows and during our conversation they told me about this great Doc that worked on the Portland Trail Blazers fixing up their injuries and I decided he was the man that could help me. The old bowed out leg that hurt is now straight as an arrow; nine months later I was skiing Mt Hood Meadows on the weekly ski bus and am so happy when I aggressively walk the trails, golf and work out five days a week. I am getting ready to go to a "Boot Camp" at my gym and never think I have a knee replacement unless it is to brag about my doctor and the successful surgery outcome. I did the follow up exercises faithfully and went to Rebound where Mike pushed me into a great rehab routine. I am looking at having the second knee done this next March after ski season and know Dr. Roberts will take good care of me and my knee.

Thanks to Dr. Southerland and his staff. I now have two new knees which I had replaced at the same time. I now can kneel, walk, ride my bike, do yard work and much much more! I would love to share my recovery and tips with other candidates for knee replacements. Again a BIG thank again you to all who helped me achieve the active lifestyle I now have.
