The Rebound Total Joint Center is a multidisciplinary group of providers with a mission to help patients eliminate the pain and restore the function of an arthritic hip, knee, or shoulder joint. We work intimately with each patient to identify and diagnose the problem, then customize an individualized treatment solution. Often times, surgery is not required, and patients can be treated with nonoperative modalities, such as targeted injections or physical therapy. We listen to a patient’s concerns, identify their goals, and try to create a plan to return a patient to full activity.

The Rebound Total Joint Center surgeons employ the most advanced and innovative techniques in knee, hip, and shoulder replacement surgery. Surgeons offer cutting-edge procedures with advanced and modern implants. The unique procedures we offer include the following:
Outpatient Total Joint Replacement
Incorporating less invasive surgical procedures with the latest in pain management techniques has allowed the Rebound total joint surgeons to offer same-day discharge to select patients. This enables a comfortable, rapid recovery in the home environment. Patients are well educated on the process prior to surgery and followed closely by both the surgeon and a dedicated nurse coordinated afterward. This helps ensure patients are confident and highly satisfied with the process.
Direct Anterior Total Hip Replacement
Direct anterior total hip replacement is a unique surgical approach that allows surgeons to work around the musculature of the hip to expose the joint, thereby promoting a less invasive reconstruction of the hip and potentially an earlier recovery. Rebound surgeons are some of the most experienced in the region at this advanced technique and have performed hundreds of direct anterior total hip replacements.
Direct Posterior Total Hip Replacement
The direct posterior approach for total hip replacement is an innovative, recently developed technique. Less invasive soft tissue techniques and development of specialized instrumentation allow the surgeon to use an incision half the size of previous posterior techniques. The approach emphasizes preservation of the normal anatomy by spreading, rather than cutting muscle fibers. Another benefit is that the limb is never twisted or forced into an abnormal position during surgery. Our experience is that this produces rapid, reliable recoveries with dislocation rates near zero.
Mako SmartRobotics™
Several Rebound total joint surgeons were the first in the region to incorporate robotic assistance in the operating room. They believe the MAKOplasty technique aids with enhanced precision and accuracy with the joint replacement, thereby optimizing the chance for an excellent patient outcome.

Preparing for My Surgery
After you and your doctor decide that surgery is the best treatment for your condition or injury, you may have a multitude of questions and concerns. Surgery is a major commitment because it affects your lifestyle for several weeks and sometimes months after surgery.
Planning for surgery can be overwhelming, but you can make it easier on yourself and on your family by being prepared and knowing what to expect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Outpatient total hip and knee replacement refers to the surgical procedure where a damaged hip or knee joint is replaced with an artificial implant, and the patient is discharged on the same day of surgery.
Outpatient shoulder replacement surgery, also known as ambulatory or same-day shoulder replacement, is a procedure where a damaged shoulder joint is replaced with an artificial implant, and the patient is discharged on the same day of surgery.
Not everyone is a candidate for outpatient surgery. Your orthopedic surgeon will assess your overall health and the complexity of your case to determine if you're a suitable candidate for outpatient total joint replacement.
Benefits may include reduced risk of hospital-acquired infections, faster recovery due to early mobilization, and the comfort of recovering in your own home.
Direct anterior total hip replacement is a surgical technique where the hip joint is accessed from the front (anterior) of the hip, rather than through the side or back.
Advantages may include potentially faster recovery, reduced risk of hip dislocation, and preservation of muscles and tendons around the hip joint.
Direct posterior total hip replacement is a surgical technique where the hip joint is accessed from the back (posterior) of the hip.
Benefits may include good visibility of the hip joint for the surgeon, potentially lower risk of nerve injury, and improved long-term outcomes.
Total hip and knee replacement with Mako SmartRobotics involves the use of robotic technology to assist the surgeon in performing precise cuts and placements of implants during the surgery.
Advantages may include increased accuracy in implant positioning, potentially shorter hospital stays, and improved long-term outcomes.
Robotic surgery is considered safe, but like any surgical procedure, it carries certain risks. Your surgeon will discuss the potential risks and benefits with you before the procedure.
Preparing for robotic surgery typically involves following preoperative instructions provided by your surgeon, such as stopping certain medications or fasting before the procedure.
You'll be provided with specific instructions for postoperative care, including pain management, physical therapy exercises, and follow-up appointments. It's crucial to adhere to these instructions for optimal recovery.
Recovery times vary for each individual, but patients often experience quicker rehabilitation and return to normal activities with the minimally invasive techniques our surgeons use for outpatient total joint replacement procedures.
