He makes sure he gets all the information he needs from you, then he listens to what you want to tell him. Sometimes it's hard for me to wait to tell him what I think is so important, but he knows what info he needs to diagnose and treat. He ordered an MRI which is what I'd wanted to have done. With those results, he offered treatment options, rather than telling me what I HAD to do. I've been very happy to work with him.
After some discussion, Dr. Borus agreed that I was a good candidate for Bi-Lateral Total Knee Replacements, and I had them done in June of 2008. Within 8 weeks I was back in my dog agility class and by 11 weeks I could walk 5 miles. I was very dedicated to the PT, which is one reason Dr. Borus was willing to do both knees at the same time. He's an excellent surgeon and I received excellent care at SW Medical Center. Since then my brother-in-law, my mother and a few friends have had Dr. Borus do their knee replacements and we all agree that he's the best! I'm almost seven years post surgery and I'm hiking, showing my dogs in agility and other sports and more active than I was before I had my knees replaced. I have no regrets!
After several years of trying to manage my severe pain and numbness caused by spinal stenosis I saw Dr. Le who recommended surgery; he explained the procedure in lay person's terms and now, after 3 months post surgery I feel so grateful to be pain free! Thanks to the entire Neurosurgery team and 8th floor staff at SW Medical Center, You are the best!
We just want to thank you again for the incredible care you gave CJ and let you know the knee held up! CJ's team won the 6A state basketball championship this year. We are so grateful that he was able to contribute and be part of his team again. It is an experience he will remember for the rest of his life.

Thanks to Dr. Southerland and his staff. I now have two new knees which I had replaced at the same time. I now can kneel, walk, ride my bike, do yard work and much much more!
