Sudden acute disc herniation left me totally incapacitated in Jan. 2014. I went to Dr. Shanno for a second opinion after being told by a well reviewed Portland neurosurgeon that I needed disc replacement surgery immediately. Dr. Shanno advised against surgery and suggested that the probability would be that it would heal on it's own over the next several months to a year. Within two months I was pain free and within one year I regained my strength. All is well and I am SO HAPPY to not have had unnecessary surgery. Thank you Dr. Shanno!!!
